Quick question, I installed an England’s stove work stove this weekend, It has a vent on top where the adapter for the single wall pipe connects. The adapter is crimped at the bottom and slides into an outlet at the top of the stove. The rod that is used to turn the vent on/off prevents the adapter from sliding all the way down and sealing off tightly. Fired up the stove briefly just to test everything out and sure enough the adapter to outlet connection leaks (enough to set off a smoke alarm and have to crack a window to clear the room). The best way to fix it (that I can tell) would be to notch out two sections of the crimped end enough to let the the beveled edge slide all the way down sealing off around the outlet. Anyone had to do this before or any better ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This was my thought, too… yet you might want to make a quick call to Englander to see if they have a suggestion or actually offer a correctly fitted part for this. If they don’t, I would try what you suggested and chase the seam with furnace cement- and not the type that comes in a caulk tube; that stuff is no where near as good as cement in a tub, IME.
Looks like you can notch it the width of the damper rod and just long enough for the pipe to sit flush. Should be a good fit but a little furnace cement would also help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
