Ok, so, for everyone that told me about the Drolet Escape 2100.....Thank you. But, one thing I don't know if I'm doing things right is my stove loading. I almost always go front to back with my first row. Then, my second row, I go left to right. And, depending on the size of the cuts, the top row will be front back again. Basically, I make cris-cross pattern. Any thoughts. Am I missing something?
Probably makes it burn hot and fast and doesn’t utilize the size of the firebox well. I pack them in tight all the same way
All depends on what you're trying to accomplish with the fire you're setting up. Obviously you know there are other ways to stack it. Just gotta try them and see what the outcome is. I'd recommend doing this when you're around the house and can keep an eye on it thru the whole burn. I stack my wood several different ways with yours being a hot and fast fire to get things warmed up quick. I almost always stack like you are saying to start a cold stove. Once a good coal bed is established i pull most of them to the front of the stove and load mostly side to side behind the coals like stacking a pile outside. The flame starts in the front of the stove and moves rearward. As it burns into the pile new splits roll down into the coal bed. I hope that makes sense.
