Took advantage of the cooler temps on Labor Day. Used two Husky 450s. My uncles saw was fresh from the shop. It was in for a "tune up" and he wanted me to take it for a spin. Saws performed flawlessly on maple, oak and ash. The property is full of boulders. A good place to stack rounds for a couple weeks until your ready to split. The logging outfit that was supposed to start in March is now pushed out until November. They will be taking care of the tangled mess of trees. The largest tree is hung up in a crotch about 30 feet up. There are six trees over 12" in diameter in that mess.
Yes, there 3 beech trees in that tangled mess. The woods are about 10% beech and the loggers don’t want any. I like beech because it is clean to handle as the bark tends to stay together.
Nice! I was able to score some Beech this year as well. Very dense wood, usually easy to split by hand and good BTU value.
Storms make quite the tangled mess as ive seen around here. PITA to cut but some good firewood to be had.
