I bought several gallons of Tractor Supply brand (County Line) bar chain oil last year when on sale. Do you think it is ok to store it outside in a shed that is not heated? Temps here are brutal hot in summer (exceeding 100 degrees often) and in winter, it could get down to, oh, 10 to 20 degrees F at night.

The container says nothing about storage. I am guessing it doesn't matter, advise if wrong!

I’d say it should be fine

Hmm, never thought about it. Mine stays in the attached garage most of the time. Every once-in-awhile it may stay in the truck. Just keep the cap on.

No worries. I just keep it all in the barn. Have a few gallons that have been there for about 4 years now. I once was gifted a few gallons that a friend had in his barn for around 10 years. Not a problem.

I have had it for years too, I figured it was stored underground for how many millions of years a few more won't hurt.

Best to keep refined oils out of the sun and heat. Also try to keep microorganisms from it.
Estimates for motor oil and tires is two to five years in the usual environment(s). Like with some food that's a best if used by date not an expiration date.

Crude oil doesn't tend to deteriorate as rapidly as refined oils. Especially if you can minimize losses of its lighter components to air.
