I can still remember 35 or 36 years ago when I met my wife. She absolutely would not eat sauerkraut! If I wanted any I had to go buy the crap they sell in the stores. [IMG] As time passed I slowly was able to get her on the German bandwagon of some of the foods that I enjoy. Things like kraut and Renderwurst and horseradish and branschwieger. Fast forward to days like today. The cabbage in the garden is at it's prime and my wife has been busy most of the day making up 40 plus pints of kraut to "cook" in a cool dark place in the basement for 6 to 8 weeks till it is ready for processing.

We're pickling here today, maybe some year we can make sour kraut. I remember my mother making it in large crocks.
