Hey y'all i own two husqvarna saws and i love them. I like running stihl bit my problem is this, every one I've ran or seen run when it's started the chain is moving, full bore, along with the engine, i may be wrong but when i start my vehicles to warm up for at least a minute on a cold start the last thing i want to do is floor it. Is this an adjustment to the carbs or chain? Or is it just the way it is with stihl saws? My husqvarnas when started just idle. My chains are tight to the bar enough so that when i rev the engine the chain quickly slows down. Not instantly but the chain completely stops after idk two seconds? Someone please inform me on this, it's literally the only reason i do not want a stihl.

When make my first pull and get the burp from full choke and then set it to half choke I just release the trigger and mine starts up at idol speed

    No problems here

It's part of the choking system. The throttle is depressed when starting. Hit the throttle once and it will come down off high idle. Husqvarna and Jonsered work the same way.

I've ran many different saws and they all start the same way... All of them except the Autotunes.

Are you saying the chain spins on high idle? Because it should, unless the brake is on.

You dont leave it like that you catch it as soon as it starts and then it will go down to idle

I run my husqys and don't really have that problem maybe the couple guys i cut with just let it spin. I'm not a fan of it though.

My husky 372 starts just as you say the stihl does..I think the 445 does as well.

I really dont pay it any attention. I just start and run my saws.

You aren't hurting it by starting it with the throttle cracked like the manuals say to do. And you should start any saw with the brake set if it has one.

That 1 or two seconds it runs in high idle "struggling" against the brake will not hurt it one bit. And for warm starts, you can just flip the switch to run and it should fire at idle speed. If the chain spins at normal idle speed, it either needs to be adjusted or the clutch springs are fatigued.

That's what i have maybe i only notice it on everyone else's saw because they don't hit the trigger right away. Maybe it's just second nature to me so i don't even notice!?

Yup, it fires, I knock it down to idle and that whole thought/motion takes about .62 seconds to complete. It's second nature to me as well.

Big difference between a car and a saw.

With the car, you have cold oil down in the crankcase. It takes a few seconds for that oil to get up around the cylinders and valves. With the saw, your lubrication is mixed in with the gas; well I hope it is or your saw isn't going to last very long. ;) A higher rpm start-up with a saw isn't going to be anywhere near as damaging as it would be in a car.

I just treat any running saw with the respect that a rotating chain of sharp edges should receive.

The only husqvarna that I have ever operated had a chain, and a 2 stroke motor, but it had extra levers, 2 wheels, and foot pegs.

I never noticed a problem on my Stihls or my one Husqvarna for the simple fact I always, for safety's sake, set the brake. I set the brake when moving one step to remove a limb. I set the brake after each cut, no matter what. It's just what I do and I do it without thinking about it.

I love me a Husqvarna and all.... but they all do it. Just kick it down off high idle by blipping the throttle. Kind of like a warm restart is easier by pulling out choke to set fast idle, push back in, pull cord and blip throttle... Go cut wood!

Have you read the manual on how to start your saw ?? They all start the same, sounds like you may have your chain too tight on your Huskys.

Yea if your chain is right you will wear out your clutch side bearing!!

Both saws i got i got used of course no manuals. I guess I'll just pay more attention next time i start the saws. They don't struggle a bit too turn the chain, and like i said they keep turning after i let go of the throttle. But the chain does stop after a few turns. I just think it's second nature that i touch the throttle immediately after out starts running. My buddies however leave break off there stihls and let it run full bore for a full 30seconds
