I am looking to see if anyone has tried the Stihl Pro Mark Chainsaw boot? Looks like a well made gore tex chainsaw boot with a good sole. They aren't available in Canada. Does anyone know what they are worth? STIHL Pro Mark™ Professional Chainsaw Boots
Here's the price near me....$349 Pro Mark™ Chainsaw Boots Protective & Work Wear - Littleton, NH | STIHL Dealer
I've never tried the Stihl boots. Treestuff.com carries several excellent option for "chainsaw" boots. Safety & Clothing - Arborist Clothing - Footwear - TreeStuff.com FWIW, I picked up a pair of the Pfanner (made by Crispi) Matterhorns, after I broke a bone in my foot a couple years ago. They are amazingly comfortable , but they are very stiff (that's what I wanted to protect my foot) and pretty heavy. There are several others on their webpage that are lighter and more flexible. They also have quite a few videos comparing their boots and they are great to talk to over the phone.
Thanks Well Seasoned, I figured as much but was hoping they were about half that. I like those Pfanner and I have looked at the HAIX before but similar to the Stihl boots above, a great boot and likely worth every $ but a little to costly for just occasional use. Yeah, I do tend to buy pricey gore-tex boots but usually not much more than $300 CAD. At $350 USD, they would currently convert to about $480 CAD Can't even get work to buy for me because they aren't CSA approved.
I've been around for a few years but have to admit that even when I worked in the woods and sawmills I never ever saw anyone wearing special boots for safety. Most of us did wear logger's boots but those weren't even steel toed for most folks. I tried them once (steel toed) but that is the one and only time I wore steel toed boots. I hated them and ended up selling them to someone who liked to wear steel toed boots. Gave him a great price for them too just to get rid of them.
Agree, 100%. Cheaper than a broken foot in my case. I have crappy arches. Otherwise, I would never pay that much for how little I use them.
