I have the ms880 with the same bar. It's as rigid as a lasagna noodle and a real pita to fell anything.

I found a couple 088s for sale the other day for $900 each. I was tempted but I couldn't see what I'd use it for really.

saw(S) Ron...all Stihls. Took me a while to see them too!

Woodsnwoods has an 880. Dunno bar length. I think he mills with it. I see them for sale now and then. No real NEED for a saw of that caliber. Never have run one either.

I have an 066 with a 20" bar to cut really fast. If I had a chainsaw mill I might have been able to justify it.

One of the locals let me mill with his Mastermind ported 880 once. It was like lifting a locomotive, and it pretty much cut like one too.

Good luck finding that chick!!!! I have an 880 which currently has a 36 inch ripping setup. I have a 42 and 48 bar also. It cuts like crazy, but is heavy. Zero complaints.

I have on 088 that I bought when boozing in a bar years ago. Too heavy to fall with, too slow. Only thing I could think to use it for myself is bucking 5 foot logs. I haven't even put fuel in it for years.

Funny stuff, but not really. Before 92 and before Bruce Babbitt interior secretary destroyed us, there were what we called "punch boards". You could buy a slot and win anything from spurs, guns, chainsaws, or even a horse. I bought mine after that from a faller who just wanted to stay drunk for a few more days. If we younger men needed something we would just go in the bars and ask around if anyone had what we were looking for. I bought a really nice 78 chevy from a guy in the bar once. He had the title signed in the jockey box of the truck ready to go. :thumbs:
