Yes.... another oil comparison thread I stumbled across this video this evening. Something I haven't seen on here before. Tough to get through the digital narrator but interesting results. I wish we had Ultra HP available to us in Canada other than the very pricey Motomix. Going to have to pick some up next time I am south of the border. STIHL Inc. Mix Oil Comparison - ppt video online download
Thanks for sharing. The results were very interesting. Now it has me second guessing my oil choice. Did the run Amsoil a 100:1? The Stihl oil is made by the makers of trufuel. I'll have to look for that video.
I found it. Stihl oil is made by Calumet. So XXL if you can find some oil made by Calumet it may be comparable to calumet.
I have heard that. Similarly I have heard that the Stihl Motomix is made by trufuel but something (the oil?) is definitely different as the trufuel is red and the Motomix (ultra hp) is green.
Honestly I'd use Wal-Mart oil over the Stihl ultra. It has a horrible plastic smell. Gives me a headache. It doesn't look impressive when you tear down a saw ran onit either. Amsoil should be available pretty easily in Canada.
Don't particularly care for Ultra in saws either, seems to work really well in 4mix engines. I do not believe TrueFuel and Motormix are made buy the same company. Here in the United States Stihl Ultra was produced by Omni specialty packaging, in I believe Louisiana. I haven't checked in several years so that could have changed. Saber looked great. Smaller carbon layer on crown with transfer wash showing. Plwnty of oil on the underside of the piston. Ultra made a lot more carbon and not as much reaidual. It was 50:1 so that played a part in it
Amsoil would be nasty at 50:1. That also proves that running more than 50:1 is not necessary. The engine with Stihl HP ultra looked great and had little sign of wear at 500 hours.
I've been running Saber since 1977 when we were introduced to it for use in snowmobiles. I have used it at various ratios, but now just mix 4 oz./gal. (32-1) as some of my saws are antique and need more oil, and the extra oil doesn't have any effect on the newer engine. No Stihl oil fan here, same observations as listed by previous posters.
Just got this in the mail today. Been running the ultra. Interested to see how this does. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Klotz original techniplate. I can mix it with any gas and not worry about separating or the fuel having too much alcohol in it even if it's labeled ethanol free
