Compressed air occasionally. Maybe after every 3rd use. My saws typically cut for an hour, or 2 per use.

I've never-even cleaned a saw unless I was getting it ready to sell or something.

Actually, I may have to clean my 353 pretty soon... I noticed the starter cover is almost completely plugged with saw-dirt.....it stihl runs great and makes sawdust!:saw:

I better shut up and let the experts tell you how it's done......:D

I've never had to clean a Stihl. I have Husqvarna saws.

But, I use a combination of air compressor, old toothbrushes, rags...etc.

When there's pine resin on her, a little dip of fuel right out of the tank when filling the saw does the trick.
I pull the cover now and again, and tidy things up with the scrench.
And crap innthe starter cover gets pulled out.
    Not much more than that.

Pretty much after every use. I use an assortment of brushes and compressed air. I blow out the air filter and around the clutch and clutch cover. Lube the clutch bearing and clean out the bar grove and oiler holes. Flip the bar, sharpen the chain, and put it back together for the next use.

I knock the dust out of the air filter every 4-5 tanks. Maybe a compressor to it once in a while. My saws get used 5-6 days a week this time of year

I clean mine when I have to remove the chain. I hand sharpen so it can be a long time between cleanings.

I dont have compressed air. Sometimes ill take my hand held leaf blower and give it a going over. If im in a cleaning mood ill wipe down the innards when i take the bar off. Sometimes ill wipe the saw down. Other than that im not big on detailing a saw.
