Anyone own/use one of these? Not the top handle climbers saw, the rear handled one. Their smallest pro model. Saw one for sale recently and was curious.
No longer manufactured based on the Stihl site.
    Thoughts/opinions?

201c has a old school carb and is nla.

201c-em is mtronic carb with easy start and still available.

Ive only ran the top handle t model....good saws but not worth new price imo. Used should bring around $400 if not beat up.

I am breaking one in foe a conservation organization that I volunteer with. Seems a real nice saw but I only have 1 tank of fuel through it.

    Great little saw. But expensive.

I use mine by a chipper or cutting up tops and small firewood. Muffler mod and a timing bump make for nice gains.

How are you liking the saw now? How many more tank fulls do you have through it? What bar length?

I don't have a 201C but I do have a MS200 and that means a rear handle. These are pretty rare and have quite a good reputation. I like it a lot, it's strong for its size and I haven't even modded it. Real good for limbing.

I tried buying a rear handle 200, but the dealer tried claiming he could only sell them to licensed arborists. At the time (maybe 9-10 years ago) they were like $600-$700. Seemed a lot for such a small saw. Unless your using it daily while in a tree or a bucket, I don’t see the huge advantage over a decent pro grade 40-50 cc saw. May weigh a couple lbs less, but if a 9-10 lb saw is too heavy then that person probably shouldn’t be cutting wood at all. Maybe quilting or knitting would be a better hobby. :rootintootin:

BTW Brad, they wasn’t directed at you. I know your a beefy fella. It’s meant for all the little whiny guys that say a saw is no good because it’s a lb heavier than some other similar saw. Really??? If I put 55 lbs of rocks in a pail and 56 lbs of rocks in another pail, none of them could tell the difference of which is which, other than by a chit luck guess.

No offense taken! Not an issue if it was just the 261 but ive gotten spoiled with the 170's light weight and after using it for a couple hours then going to the 261 the difference is noticeable. Think of using a hammer! My 194t would fill the bill but dont wanna get lax with one handing unless really necessary.

I dont knit or quilt but can crochet you a nice scarf with the FHC logo on it!

Do you know from what year or era? I bought a used 020 rear handle (circa 1973) back in August and a member here restored it. If im not mistaken the 020 evolved into the 200. Screenshot_20201030-164009_2.png
Original case, owners manual, and cardboard sleeve. $180 on FBM and 5 minutes from me. Had to buy it. Low hours based on the wear. 32cc
Poor quality pic from my cheapo cell phone.

If your just looking for a fun little new toy I’d look at the top handle Echos. The 2511t is the lightest gas saw available I believe. The 355t is pretty comparable to the Stihl 201. Much cheaper than Stihl. Seem to get rave reviews.

I bought a top handle Echo 2511t for trail-building. It was so awesome, I bought a 2511WES from Europe last year, which is a rear handle saw; they were not sold in the USA at that time, don't know about now. They are so small and light, they are like toys except they are badass.

Brad, I don't recall the year of my ms200. I bought it used in 2016 with not much time on it. I would guess it is 2010 to 2015 year model.

Ran one more tank through it and gave it back. Have not run it since, however another guy did just last week. I asked him what he thought of it, but have not heard back. I liked it, but it is pricey. I cannot remember bar length. 36? :D
