It looks as though over time there were two different OE oil pumps on the Stihl 064. The early version is NLA and I can't seem to find any information on it (specifically, the stroke/output). I have an 066 Red Light that I'm running a 32" bar on and when cutting large fairly dry wood it's not putting out enough oil. I ordered the higher output control bolt and pump piston for it (just a few days before mdavlee's post about modding the parts for more output!).

I'm looking to possibly put a 36" on the 066 after the pump upgrade and then put the 32" on an 064. There seems to be a ton of information out there about oilers and abilities, but I can't find what I need. So, here are my questions:

    1. Is there an output difference between the early 064 oil pump and the late one?
    2. mediaCAT doesn't show anything related to an HO oil pump or parts for the 064 - do they exist?
    3. I know the early & late oil pumps look different, but if there is a HO version of one of the oil pumps for the 064 is there a way to visibly identify it or tell it apart from a standard one?
    Thanks!

The early oilers won't interchange with the layer ones. I don't know the cut off for that. Those you can mod and get plenty of output. Maybe this will help a few others if they have 064s.
