Found a stihl 026 with 18" bar and good compression on marketplace today.( sorry no pictures) After The saw is what I call grungy. ( I don't think that saw was ever cleaned)The plastic parts are soaking in a bucket with Dawn dish washing soap and the engine has went thru several cycles of Awesome cleaner, with a few more washing cycle schedule for tomorrow. I cant wait to do the required testing after I get this new to me saw cleaned up. I did pull the muffler and the cylinder looks good for the age of the saw ( no scratches) The owner was willing to let the saw go for a reasonable price and had an extra bar and extra chains.
Got to work on the 026 today, any guesses on the fuel mixture that I found when dumping the fuel tank ?? Also the fuel line was completely gone. Bar oil looks thin to me, so I may use it.
Congrats on the "new" saw. 026 a great firewood saw. I still have my 026 purchased new in 1992. Sat forgotten for many years until M2theB brought it back to life. Reminds me that i should run a tank of mix through it.
Jason the bar oil looks fine, other than being a little thin. The black stuff is what I got from the gas tank. Also the fuel line was gone in the tank, just a small piece connected to the fuel filter.
