I had worked on this saw that had seen much better days and got it clean and cutting really well but discovered a wonky idle, especially depending on how the saw was held; sidewise, up, or down.
I had replaced the seals as part of the rebuild but I still suspect an air leak.
Checked it and there was one, and awfully slow.

I was afraid the case was scratched pulling out the old seal and decided to drive the seal a little further.

It’s been holding rock solid for an hour.

Nice work. Sometimes when I think there might be a small scratch I put a little yamabond or dirko sealant on the out side of the seal before pressing it in to make sure it does not leak.
But it looks like you got it.

yeah, got that. But still not in love with it.
Needs a new handlebar. The one it came with isn’t the right one, bolt pattern doesn’t line up with the tank bolt pattern in the front.

And for some reason, when I set it on the ground, it wants to die. And if I pick it up quick, often it does die.

I thought it must be the impulse line pinching because the handle was stressing the AVs. But I released the handle, and it still wants to do that, die when set down.

    Any ideas?
It runs well on the high jet. It’s idle that I can’t get to sit down.

I may have taken the handlebar off my 028 and used that. The original may have been bent. Canr remember

for sure it’s not the original bar and appears to be out of its original shape

when forced to fit and bolt up, it takes the tank out of alignment with the case. This stresses the AV mounts and possibly effect the impulse line, directly effecting carb pump.

looking now for an original 026 bar in good shape
