Recently picked up a Stihl 025 with low compression. I was going to use it for parts for my Stihl 026, however the more that I look at this saw it would not be a hard job to do a piston rebuild kit/short block. After doing a google search and seeing all that available, I’m wondering what the saw builders here are using. Still I’m looking for good quality made in the USA. So what say yaw saw builders what manufactures are do you recommend

Very little on the 025 would be usable on the 026 as they are completely different saws.

Very few 025s see new engine parts since they are somewhat inexpensive and you can go buy them new. MS250-18” is $399 at an ACE hardware near you.

If you even need a piston Stihl sells them you may just need rings
I always buy meteor for cheaper and excellent quality.
Just deglaze the cylinder scotch Brite or sand paper whatever you choose.
Just get new seals when you do it
I use motoseal and I always put it around all the pan and seal surfaces.
