So Saturday my new to me stihl 011 came from Osage Orange. Thanks again man!

The saw is complete and runs as is. It has spark and with some priming of a spray bottle with premix starts up fast and will run all through the throttle. Does not really want to idle and is Smokey as all get out. Carb settings are a tad richer than factory specs but as is only 1/4-1/8 richer on L&H. The exhaust is really slobbery and oily.

He said a dealer has been it and possibly swapped carbs? So I need to camp are Carb number to IPL and make sure its the correct Carb if so it will be rebuilt as its over fueling.

Another thing I thought of...can these saws the way there designed suck oil out of the B&C resivoir? That would explain the Smokey exhaust and slobber?

Oh and compression is at 175 psi cold.

It did happen but I don't have pics right now. Will load some, maybe slip out in the dark when I get wood for the stove?

I know nothing of this saw? So I can't comment. I subscribed to it last night because I wanted to see the responses.

How long have you ran it? Did you flush the fuel tank and add your mix? Even after running your mix, it can take several minutes of running hot to clear up a "Rich" condition the bottom end of the saw.

Also, the easy way to eliminate the "bar oil" leaking into the crank case? Empty the bar oil...

And the last thing...... So far. It never happened (no pics).

Take pics of carb and get model # off of it. Then maybe you can get some help there. But your asking for a diagnosis with no info, no pics, and little troubleshooting.

Hope you get your answers and this will bump it back to top..

Good thinking on pouring oil out? The tanks were empty when I got it. I only ran it a few mins total so could be it?

The Carb issue is more of a comment, I can figure that out with ipl and Carb
    model.

    I'll get pics tonight!

The 011 and it's stablemates are odd saws compared to the rest of the Stihl lineup. All I know is I had one and blew it up. Wish I could help. I'll keep watching to learn.

Ok so I checked the carb against the ipl and stihls carb application chart and it does have the factory walbro wt-29a carburetor on it. There was also a zama option on them.

Have ordered a kit for it . So maybe this weekend I will build it maybe next week ?

So I have rebuilt the carb. With a kit that I got off ebay for $5. It was aftermarket. I did not see one of the little rubber diaphrams on the non needle side so I put the old one back in with the new gasket.

It runs fine. It will flood a bit after extended idle so I think I need to check my settings again. Bit not so much as its a problem just noticeable.

I filled the fuel and oil up to see if they mix like I thought before. I dont think that is a problem but still curious.

I also needs a new fuel cap cause the old oneis busted and leaks.

And I bought a new non safety semi chisel chain for it. It cuts pretty good for a small saw but then again its 40cc.

I think this maybe a favorite little yard saw now. Definitely my climbing saw from now on.

Looks like it was just a shot carb. Cross your fingers as I keep you posted.

I also cleaned up the bar. It had a lip of metal rolled over the edge from years of use. I took the dremel and removed the rolled edge and the ground the top of the bar back square as well.

You dont have to be so worried that you will cut your hand open on the bar now either.

There is a gasket under the fuel cap. I see it on the IPL now. I think thats the problem with the leaking fuel cap not a busted cap. Will look again closer today.

I cleaned it up a bit. Not as good as Dex but good enough for now. I still need to take the recoil off and clutch cover off to clean it up good but this is good enough for the pictures.

I may make a video once I retune, it and film it cutting.

Feel free to my friend. Have a few others you might like to use as well. Stay awhile and we can go cut a truck load. Go fishing or shooting at the range whatever.

Thanks again my friend for the saw. Turned out to be a good one.

Been playing with this saw on and off.

Did not have the carb fine tuned so I messed with it today. The L was to fat so if it I does for half a minute or two it would cut out andor be too rich once you grabbed tthe throttle then clear out. I leaned it up a bit on the low side and its fine now. And I had the H set to fat as well so I leaned it out a bit. Still 4strokes but sounds stronger.

Also I could not figure the tank vent out. Thething just had a fuel line in tthe vent hole running into the carb area??? The IPL showed nothing that I could tell but I finally went through the pdf of the service manual I had and found there is some vent type scree that goes in a small piece of feel line in the tank wall or something??? Anyway I ripped the tank vent out of my old 650 tank and crammed the feel line in the vent place into the 650 even and laid it into the carb compartment. Problem solved till I van get the right parts.

The fuel leak i still had I think was from me not tightening down the fuel cap tight enough. One I put a scrunch to it and snugged it up and flipped the saw over the fuel stopped.
