This saw holds a place in my heart as it was the first saw I ever bought for myself. Barely in my teens and bought it used from a local saw shop for $75.00. It was the early, all orange style. Only saw I had and used it a LOT. Ran it for years till all of a sudden it locked up on me. What happened was they had an access hole near the bar that leads directly into where the carb is, the rubber plug fell out or something and sawdust started packing in there. Pushed passed the filter and loaded up the crankcase. When I pulled the jug off is was so packed there was just a line where the connecting rod had been running. All this happened with 8 hrs of running as I blew the air filter out after every day of use.

Bought a new jug and piston and installed it after a complete cleaning. Learned how to install Stihl cageless needle bearings then! Ran great for another 5 years till the reed valve broke up once and sucked in the cylinder . Grooved it a little but cleaned it up and put it back together. Didn't have the same power and upon tearing it down cylinder was gone from wear. Finally I got a 192C to replace it.

Was at a garage sale this summer and picked this up for $20.00

Dirty but was complete and didn't look like it was used too much. Seemed to pull decent but owner said it hadn't run in years. Had some time today so I pulled it out to see if I could get it running or if it was just a parts saw.

Gave it a quick clean and found I had spark. Compression was fine so 2 outta 3 Gas smelled a little bad so drained it and flushed it out. Pulled the carb and tore it down. Not too bad but a little crud here and there. Lines weren't gummy so I put back together. Poured a little fuel in it and it popped. Pulled again and it ran! Little tweaking on the carb and I have a runner.

I was also given another 009 in pieces a while back I put it with my original but it had a junk cylinder as well. Dug those out after having success with the other one.

These will take a little more work :D

I had picked up a box of NOS Stihl parts a while back and remembered some jugs were in there. They are 36mm but they are 4 bolt for the newer style(gray) saws. My old orange ones are 2 bolt. Does anyone have a resource online to decode Stihl part numbers to verify what they are for? Here are a few pics.

    Box says 1120-020-1216

As you can see cast numbers are 38 ZD 24 Stihl 1120 I'm guessing 009 010 011 are probable users of these. I'd like to find an older 2 bolt 009 so I could get my "memory" saw going again. Open to trades or such.

The numbers on the box of the cylinder I need are 1120-020-1200
