My uncle passed away a few weeks ago and while going through a trailer he has on my property i came across an 009 in pretty decent shape. It was locked up tight but after a good wd40 soak, the piston freed itself. It had good hot spark so i hit the carb with some spray and she fired right off!

The fuel tank was obviously drained before he stored it so i gassed it up but it wouldn't run on the tank. One tug on the fuel line and it came right apart so I'll throw new line and a filter on it next. My question is, what the heck is this little brass screw? It was in the very middle of the line?

I have no idea, but maybe he plugged it since he knew he would not be using it for awhile? Again I have no idea this is just a guess.

There should be 2 lines coming out of the fuel tank. One is fuel delivery to the carb - it should have a weighted pickup body in the tank. The other is a tank vent. The screw is probably the tank vent insert. Any kind of tank vent should work. I use Echo vents quite a bit.

It's original as that is what Stihl used on them. As stated, tank vent screw.

Sorry I didn't say thanks earlier guys. Today i worked on the saw again and replaced both lines. After taking the carb apart a few times, flushing the tank and some cussing i finally got it running but it's gonna need a carb kit for sure. Then my dad walked in with another 009 that he grabbed at an auction for $2. I tore into that one as well but it also needs a carb rebuild.

Looks like the carb is a walbro wa 56-a. I searched the web but im only coming up with kits for a wa 56-1. The kit looks the same though. Any thoughts

K10-WAT is the kit you want. It covers lots of WA and WT carbs.
