There's stove for sale on CL... an ancient St Croix with a simple analog control... I'm wondering if you guys can ID the model/year.

I'm waiting for the owner to get back to me but I'm not sure he knows.

I have to replace my Englander in my shop... just not enough HP to get the job done.

There is/was 3 versions of Prescott stoves, possibly 4.Much of the original information was lost when they sold out.Almost all parts are available, lots have been reproduced, even the fiber panels inside the firebox, also available in steel. The earliest generation had 2 ports behind plates,in firebox,a bit harder to clean, but not bad.First generations had analog controls mounted behind hopper lid,2 different types of controls, some even had a cable control to adjust damper from up top.Next generation had analog controls mounted on the side of the stove.Analog control boards no longer available, but complete digital board changeover kits have been reproduced. They are heat monsters,on high, and is one of the very few stoves you can run on high continuously. If you buy it,there is some confusion as to the proper shaker grates, and fitment,ESES has lots of the old manuals, and point you to the proper parts. They are very helpful on St Croix stoves, and stock quite a few parts. My BIL's Prescott seems to eat 1 igniter a year, but the price of them has come way down.Hope this helps.
