Got all set up this morning. Weather guessers said light spotty showers possible, so I set up the easy-up to keep the splitter and me dry. Split a few pieces then the sky started dumping. So break time I guess. Should be clear in a few as the storm is tracking due north.

Can’t complain too much. It’s been really dry here lately.

Just lightened up to a sprinkle so back at it. The overcast is really keeping it cool.

Looks like I’m in the clear for a while.

Splitters going full bore!! Was no fun getting through stumps and uglies first but it should be clear sailing now.

Looks like a beautiful day. We needed this rain so I’m grateful for it.

I’ve been making it a habit to get the “technical splitting” done first as well. Makes for an easier finish to the day.

I called it for the day. Grand daughter spent the night last night and she was up and down all night, still here so time to get a late afternoon nap.

I probably should quit too but it’s easy going now.

Looking good, you can make a pile quickly with oak. My first full row was all oak, second was mostly sugar maple and a smidge of oak.

This is very true. Less wood makes it to the fire-pit pile that way as well. If I’m tired and fatigued, it gets chucked aside.

You guys make me feel like a bum, I never get my stuff stacked the same day as I split it.

I changed up my process, so I never split more than I’m willing to same day stack. Cuts down on the misery of hours of stacking.

Nice set up and way to get it done. Did some splitting today myself. Got a quick light rain for five minutes but that was it. Just enough to get everything wet. IMG_3089.JPG

I don't have a log splitter, so I don't accumulate as much in a day as most do, but still. When I'm done splitting, I'm done for the day.

Maybe I just need to quit being lazy and stack it the same day regardless. Lol

Not lazy at all. I seldom stacked while splitting when i was a hand splitter. I mostly finish one task per outing. Today was split and move. Ive got five cords of splits to stack from the last two scores. :picard:

On a couple occasions, I've mounded splits in a pile. Really regret it when it comes time to stack. Lots of bending over to pick them up. I just prefer to go straight into the trailer. It's just less work this way and I don't have a pile sitting on the ground.
