Put the Champion through its paces for the first time yesterday (except for about 10 minutes the day I got it). It was only a load of Ash, but I have to say I was pretty happy with it. It didn't balk at anything, including some large crotch areas. It is just a little under a cord as it is about 3' high on the low side but is 8' long on the bottom and 9' at the top. One cord down for this machine and hopefully many many more to come. The rack is only temporary as I am just getting started building the permanent one. This rack will then become an overflow or kind of staging area as I work through the different aged woods in the permanent storage. I'll post another thread about that build. Not sure anyone wants to follow along as I build a basic wood storage. But I'll post anyway in case some is interested.
Nice, I wondered how those Champions perform. Be interested to see how it holds up over the long-term.
Congrats on the new toy. Once I went hydro I never went back. Still swing the maul to section up rounds when loading. Looking forward to following all of your threads.
I've had the 27 ton for probably 5 years or more now and only issue I ever had was breaking the pull cord once. Maybe only ever had 2 or 3 20" diameter super knotty pieces of white oak I pulled off it because it was sketchy. The 27 ton has a much faster cycle rate than the 33 and 40 ton which is why I went with it fwiw.
