Howdy Y'all! since we are in the middle of a blazing hot summer, I wanted to share one of my favorite skits of all time- when Saturday Night Live brought out the character of Buford Calloway, an Atlanta Southern gentleman recalling his harrowing tale of the Atlanta "Snowpocalypse" of 2014....trust me, this is a good one! And it almost makes me ready for snow...which is seen in winter... which is when we burn wood. There, my Firewood Hoarders Club connection. Enjoy! :dex:

I always find it funny how they drive down south, I shouldn't , but I do. When we were teens with our first cars, we would go to school parking lots at night and spin out in the snow for hours. Go full blast and slam on the brakes, cut the wheel and spin........better than an amusement park.:D

We just don't see enough weather to justify having a lot of snow treating/moving equipment. Our topography is very hilly Atlanta north, lots of twists, turns and hills. We don't get big, measurable snowfall, just a couple of inches is enough to cause problems down here. The interstates generally get salt and plows, but surface streets are fend for yourself- which is unfortunately what lots of folks try- in their rear wheel drive convertible Honda del Sol of Mazda Miata. They make a run at a hill, can't get up, slide down and are stuck...which has now got the road totally hosed. The biggest problem is that the snow is usually brief, and then the sun comes out and melts it...covering the roads in water which then freezes as soon as the sun goes down. The whole city turns into a skating rink, then we're toast.
