I had a bigger saw. Noodled this 4 foot maple stump down to a movable size yesterday. Takes a little time with a 250 and 16 inch bar but it gets the job done. The fall splitting pile is slowly growing. Roughly 15 feet by 15 feet and stacked about 6 foot high.
Pile is looking good, keep an eye out for the right deal and you may find a bigger saw that works for you.
Ah the beginnings of CAD, Way back- 12" electric(worn out) >14" poulan(worn out)>20" 116Si Dolmar( runs ok, good parts unit for someone/ no chain brake)> 7900x2,6400x2 Dolmars ( various bars lengths)> Stilh 075/36"( sold) >Stilh 084/42", and yep full circle Echo 3xcc with a 14"bar I think . Oh, and a Electric pole saw. Now someone local has had the audacity to post a 2 man saw,Clinton motor and a 2-6ft. bars with chain,on CL.
Yeah, I'm on the fence about a bigger saw too. I'm going to get my grandpa's 015 stihl top handle, but that's just a limber saw. Meanwhile I have the 029 super that has unknown compression. I've got a feeling it's OK compression wise as it starts in a pull or 3 even when not run in a while and pulls hard. If that's the case, putting a big bore on it makes no sense. Waking the 029 super up with a narrow kerf chain and bar and muffler mod might be enough when upsizing the b&c to 18 or 20" from the 16" it's at now.
