Ash is a good one, always a nice addition to a hoard.

I usually have ash in my stacks, at least a little bit. This year I might have a quarter of a cord to burn, and next year zero. This winter is about half cherry and half maple with a bit of beech thrown in, and next year is a mix of nearly every species in the woods except ash.

JCMC I've done the same thing and even had some lay more than a year. Once I think I had some laying for 4 years; had forgotten all about it.

Got at least a cord of ash in every 1-4 year stack. Its still the most common in a hoard.
I have at least 3 cords of red n rock oak standin n ready to be felled....

Yep I like ash. That is good you were able to get back and retrieve it. I have some to burn this year too and guess what. It is 3 years now in the stack.

Today I split and stacked the Ash I brought home the other day, the bark peeled off most of it.
