Checking in gentleman-its been a journey to say the least. I trust all are well and warm. I was not incarcerated-LOL-I had a series of events that led me to unplug for a bit, including an injury resulting from timber theft on my farm that almost cost me my leg. Anyways, missed the camaraderie here and about to get serious about catching up. Burning here now but gonna warm up til the weekend. Thank God for the 3 yr plan.

I am Erik B and thank you...we all have our ebbs and flows-I’ve always been a competitor through sports and professionally-I didnt feel like I was in the game and just took a break-Thankfully I’m good on wood for this season and with a little hard work, the 3 yr plan is doable by winters end.

I was traveling @ 70mph in traffic and am just thankful it occurred on the rear or else the outcome could have been much different.

    Uggg. Can't like that.

Good to see you are ok. I'm sure you'll elaborate on the wood theft leg injury thing at some point.

Like I drove over a land mine-look how the support brackets twist like spaghetti and it just ripped the steel-later read horror stories about it happening many times to others, been some recall but not that particular tire-after the body shop, I never rolled a mile on the remaining tires-read where folks had replaced one only to see one or more of the others go later-tons of damage-towed straight from body shop to tire shop-Rolling on Cooper SST Pro’s now

Hey Horkn good to hear from you buddy. I was in the neighborhood, decorating my late mom’s gravesite over Memorial Day and ran into a neighbor who lives near my farm at a convenience store. He asked if I had been cutting firewood and I told him no, just recovered from rotator cuff surgery and was about to get started. He said you need to check your property, I saw a big top down and just figured it was you and heard saws running.

Two thieves had helped themselves to a rather large walnut which market wise is through the roof now. One of them I’ve had problems with for years, dumping, stealing tree stands, etc. It’s been very frustrating in that this happened over Memorial Day, and today there are outstanding warrants for their arrest and I did most of the legwork for DNR and the Division of Forestry. I’m 7K in on med bills and I can make no efforts of recovering damages until they’re convicted criminally.

Good to see you back, Ashwatcher. Truck deal looks ugly, I've seen it since I am an auto damage appraiser. Thieves usually get the short end eventually.

First I confirmed, did a little recon and ended up at 0ne of the local log yards where a good friend of mine just happens to be the timber buyer. I specifically asked if “so and so” had sold him any logs lately...he said “a lil bit, walnut”. Ended up with log scale sheets and copies of the checks issued to the scum. They are facing very expensive fines but none of which compensate me for any damages or replacement costs of the tree. When I first went to the scene, I discovered they had attempted to hide the stump with an old pool liner. I measured the stump, then down to the top and estimated the stump jump and what length logs they took to market. To add insult to injury, they blocked the road leading into the main entrance. I was going to clear last weekend but the rains kept me away, kinda been a blessing the road has been blocked to keep other scum out but I hope to clear it this weekend. After doing the measurements, I was climbing back through the top and fell, not far but into the road that often has backed up flood water in it so the silt, etc. and whatever that ripped my knee open caused an immediate and severe infection. It was made worse by the hookaroon I had in hand mostly for snake defense. I fell on the hookaroon and broke a rib during the fall, thankful again the hook was not up. I was on IV antibiotics and the heavy duty powerful stuff, crazy expensive ointments and was not released from the wound center until mid-August. I had blood poisoning and went weekly for a scalpel for debridement of dead tissue. 3 months gone over scum sucking thieves and a ton of medical bills. There was no suturing possible, given the rip where it was and the need to drain infection, ruined my summer.

I’d never seen it friend-remarkable the amount of accounts I read where they just replaced the tire and later others did the same thing...powerful force that swinging tread-I had no idea what had happened initially, sounded like the whole rear end just blew up and hit the road-tire never deflated as you can see-had it been a front, that guardrail you see in the pics is there to prevent @ a 700’ drop, doubt the rail would have stopped a 10K lb truck——Always blessings to be found and I hope this finds you well ready to chase big white tails

Yes sir-powerful stuff-I saw my fender flare in the median for quite a while driving to and from work-Funny thing is, I’m not a real fan of walnut as firewood but there is a lot left there to start re-building the stacks after the down time...But I’m a wood snob you know, spoiled on the WV hardwoods. I hope this finds you well my friend. I’ve missed my brothers and sisters in arms here and just had to come back and figured it was time-many have it much worse so I’m not whining....right Eric VW ?

Sucks that you've had such an "eventful" summer.
    :hair:

Glad that you've healed up, and I also hope they can convict the people who stole from you and caused so much grief.

I just don't get how some people figure they have rights on other peoples property.
My neighbor has had similar issues with people trashing out his woods and now he's planning to fence it all in.
97 acres is a LOT of fencing.

    Was that tire a retread?
Or just poor quality control from the tire manuf?

Walnut at least dries quickly. I've been burning abit of black walnut and fir as of late. It's great when it's not so cold out.

Plus, it's already down, you might as well make good use of it.:handshake:

Plus you can use that pool liner as top cover. Lol

Not whining at all, Sir... I hate that this trash stole your walnut... reckon someone wasn’t tipped off to the event of your shoulder surgery?
