Well, I started on my FBMP job after work today, they are getting a bunk house delivered tomorrow so I started on the ones right next to the gravel pad. Every thing with a yellow, red or white mark he wants gone with more to be possible added. The ones I took down so far. The center one of the group of 3 unfortunately was rotted out on the bottom and as much as I tried it ended up going back into the woods, thankfully the tree behind it was also marked to go. Found out that one was a cherry. Unfortunately I only got one photo of the very first one I dropped, the misses was sure I was going to land a tree on my self so she ended up coming down after she was done with work and helped pile brush and load. So I didn't take any more photos. Got one full truck load, out of 2 of the trees, got 3 more cut up, and 2 more on the ground to cut up still, plan to head back tomorrow and load up the truck again.
Oh, all the work done today was with the Husky 55, with the 372xp sitting back up, but never had to be used, yet. Everything cut to 24" rounds.
Gonna be some primo firewood thats for sure. 24" bucking saves a lot of time and fewer round per cord too. How soon do you have to have the score done and wood gone?
Ya, 24" are definitely heavier to handle but the OWB does awesome on that size. No time limit per say, but they want them down and out so they can kinda get more of a plan. I guess they had a different guy out there who started cutting some wood, he still has a small pile cut up there, but he took some wood, left a mess with the brush and then disappeared. Hasn't been back in a month. So I'm going to try and hit it hard and try to take as much as I can as quickly as possible.
Well, went back today after work, wanted to go yesterday as well but ended up with a horse that did something stupid and had to deal with that instead, Sadly slacking on the photos, sorry, took a couple when I got there then the misses came to help and the owner showed up at the end so ended up not taking any more. Got what I had down and bucked already split and loaded, finished cutting up one log and splitin it. Then we worked on cutting down a pile of pecker polls he had marked to make room to drop some more bigger trees. Hope to be back at it tomorrow with some more photos. Husky 55 did the grunt work again. Most she has been worked in a long time.
A little everyday and it will get done. It also shows the property owner how serious you are about wanting the wood. Much in the way of bigger trees? Those logs look to be the "easy on the back" size.
Ya, in the nice split in half and load size, moving over to the other side they get bigger, once I have this area opened up I will be able to start dropping the bigger ones into were I cleared.
Maybe it's a northern thing or I just know more crude people than not lol It's what I've always used and heard people call stuff 5 inches and under
Back again today for round 3, got a mix of Cherry and maple today. Just about have the one section cleared up to start dropping some more trees. Couldn't get much more on. Brush pile is going fast.
It's actually been on the warm side, for me doing firewood at least, been in the high 70s to low 80s. But I won't complain, nice and sunny and dry.
Round 4 today, we got 5in of rain the last 3 days. It wasn't raining when I got done with work so headed over, got just about all the small ones down now in the first area we started. Unfortunately after I cut up that one it started raining again, by the time we got that loaded the misses and I couldn't get much wetter. So we called it a day. Got a level truck bed load. Going to be moving on to the bigger trees next.
Thats the FHC spirit! Yeah the rain and wetness sure take away the fun aspect. My last score i cut the first of five loads in wet humid conditions and it wasnt pleasant. Second load i was very wet when i left. Couple days later it dried out and breezy cool conditions were like Heaven. Keep on hoarding and cut safe.
Well, after a 5 day camping/horse riding vacation with the family, then a late work day yesterday. I was back at it again. Trees marked in pink were todays victims. The 3 marked in green are hopefully tomorrows project of the rain holds out. Both the 55 and 372 got used today. Got a truck load with a little left over to start tomorrows load.
Been very busy lately having had time to update at all, have 3 big trees left in the first area we are cutting before moving into the woods more, end of last week was windy as all get out, so I wasnt going to attempt to fall any of them, then had a big fence project at home we worked on this weekend and a family medical issue. Have managed to get 2 more loads since last update, Dead basswood, not a long burning wood but makes a good fall firewood. Couple of stump photos for y'all to pick on
