I am looking for a good slow cooker recipe do any of you have one? Here is what we where looking at. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Slow-Cooker-Corned-Beef-and-Cabbage/
Haven't tried it but the recipe looks good. I like the recipes I find on allrecipes.com Years ago I picked up a small slow cooker recipe book by Betty Cooker and there are some good ones in there. I don't think you can buy it now but here is a link I found. http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/preparation/slow-cooker-recipes This site has a lot more recipes that the book I have.
Jack Straw posted a slow cooker picture of corned beef and cabbage being cooked today while they are out. Can't wait to see how that turns out.
OK, I talked to her. Put the meat and all the liquid in the bag into the slow cooker and add the seasoning packet that is usually included with a corned brisket. Add any dense veggie like parsnips, potatoes and carrot right away. Set the crock-pot to cook for four hours. After two hours, pull the meat out, add cabbage and put meat back on top of the cabbage. Finish cooking, your beef should be about 160 degrees when its done. This will make a solid brisket, with a texture similar to prime rib. If you are looking for a finished product that falls apart, add some water or broth at the beginning of the recipe, and maybe cook it a bit longer.
