A friend of mine has a business doing slab work. I went to pick up a live edge for our bathroom redo. Snapped a few pics.
    All is kiln dried

Various other species. He has slabs everywhere.

He also runs a bakery. :) The real big stacks of cookies were outside under his lean too. He says there's a big market for them and he does really well selling them, for wedding center pieces.

Fun place to visit im sure. Kinda reminds me of buzz-saw's backyard after we're done milling. Sold cookies a few times for the same and garden "pavers" stepping stones etc.

I see Lowes's selling live edge slabs and cookies as well.

You get any of the scraps for burning?

It is a pretty cool shop. The smell in the place is awesome.

I think at one time he said has a deal with the amish guy across the street for the scraps. I'll have to ask him again.

He went from firewood processing to doing this.

Once i saw a log sliced open i started looking at them as boards, not firewood. Sometimes i cringe as im bucking to fireplace length. :picard:
Board storage and lumber drying area my main issues!

How does one keep the cookies from splitting? Seems like almost all that I cut split/crack when they dry.

Pentacryl seems to work but it gets pricey & a lot of it is needed if you are doing the dunk method.
