My mini Skid-Steer with a Vanguard 16Hp. engine won't shut off. I have had 2 different ignition switches on it. The first one was suppose too be a Briggs # replacement. It didn't work at all. When I got to researching I determined I need a switch with the following: Off M-G-Body(gnd) Run B-L Start B-L-S. That switch didn't work either. It would start but won't shut off just like the original one. Any idea of where to go next. Does it hurt an engine to choke it out all the time?
It's telling you to keep working ? I had the same problem with a Scag mower a while back. If I recall without looking at a folder I have with some notes in it the white wire going to the switch was the wire that would kill it. White goes to ground when you turn the switch to the off position and grounds it out to kill it.
Do not, except for emergencies choke to kill a engine. Choking a running engine sucks a large amount of raw fuel into the cylinders washing off the oil.
