Soft maple vs 036 with a chain fresh off the granberg:

Now that I've got the hang of the granberg, I think I'm getting better-than-factory results. I was working on some smaller diameter maple in my log pile over the weekend, that still needed to be sawn to length. With a pile of branches in the sawbuck, you have to be careful of the chain grabbing the top layer and yanking them towards you. It was cutting so effortlessly that I didn't have much of that - the wood was just melting away. :)

I know you square file guys must have seen a few nice handfuls... Show us your chips! :D

I have not taken any pics of just chips from a chain I have done.

But this is the pile from the big Cant last Oct.

This doesn't look like a lot, but it was a couple feet tall and several feet in diameter

Then I spread it out over the whole gravel area to keep the grass down.

I've been collecting a lot of mine in the shop vac and dumping them in low spots on my trails. Bigger fluffier chips should say drier too.

I'm looking forward to the GTG too BTW! I finally have a saw or 2 to show off.. :D

Wow. I've been kicking around the idea of buying one. Your pics are convincing. They just look a little unwieldy to me, I'd like to see one in person/try it out. I've watched a couple videos but that's not the same as eyes/hands on.

I dump my dust collector out in the burn pit, light it on fire and it burns for 4 days

I'm on the fence about doing that with mine. On one hand, the surface tends to be dry. On the other hand, the wood will suck up the water and remain wet forever.
