    Hello folks,
Anyone here use a Carlton file-o-plate as a guide for sharpening chains? I have been using this plate as a guide for sharpening my 3/8" pitch chains for a long time now (30+ years). I have been getting excellent results using it, fast cutting chain with nice straight cuts. I see this plate is still available for 3/8 pitch chains from a few internet sources. I'd like to get one for my 0/325" pitch chains as well. Thanks!

    Jim

A great little guide that would be a tremendous help to people having trouble getting their chains sharp. It is very useful for keeping your cutters and rakers uniform. They do work best with carlton chain.

A logger that cut on our farm when I was a kid used a File-O-Plate and showed my brother and me how to use it. Been a fan and user ever since. I use them almost excusively and wish I had one to fit all types of chain made. I pretty much use Carlton chain and some Oregon. As Birddogtg said they are somewhat chain specific and work best with Carlton chain as they were designed to do.
