It's getting to be that time a year; especially next month when the severe storms erupt. Hasn't been pretty the 2 years past. Hope this year is less severe.
Last year on May 21 just after dinner we got nailed with our first wind event of the year, it went from sunny out to black in 10 minutes, it was like someone turned the lights out. I checked the weather report during the day, after dinner I checked it again, that's when it went to a high wind warning so I looked down the driveway, you could see it rolling in, I went out to move the truck away from the trees, by the time I came inside it was black out and the wind hit.
Yea. These storms can come out of nowhere. I was leaving with a friend last year to go cut wood, 2 trucks, when suddenly the sky turned black, it poured, then hailed, with nasty wind. the road we were on was a tight tree covered road. branches were landing in my bed, not a bad thing, but man I thought a tornado was nearby. My son and I love to drive somewhere before a storm hits just to watch the lightning. Love it!
Forecast for snow rain mix here Saturday. Season changing storm I hope, Be nice to get some above freezing nights to start things thawing out.
We've had a nice thaw going on, in the mid 40's most days, just below freezing at night. We have some rain moving in on Friday & Saturday so that will do away with a bunch of snow. I'm thinking it might be a good two weeks before I can start cutting on the property I usually cut on, around the house might be sooner.
The word here for tomorrow is freezing rain. I'm close to the predicted rain/freezing rain line, so a shift a few miles north would be fine with me. Not that I want anyone to have to deal with freezing rain. It's April after all, even though nature doesn't want to admit it this year.
The Farmers' Almanac said we have a storm coming in the second week of April, a chance of wet heavy snow. I just checked AccuWeather, they only have us down for about one inch of snow on Tuesday the 8th. I just watched a video on the weather channel on a chit load of rain coming from the Gulf up this way which would make Wednesday and Thursday possible.
I just watched a video about some weather today (rain & severe storms in the midwest) near the end they hinted at some snow for the Great Lakes for the middle of next week, I think he said we won't like the forecast. I'm sure they'll have a video on it in the next couple of days.
I'd rather have the snow, it looks like things could get nasty, water wise. It sure will be a mess with all the snow we still have, the Brook should be moving along at a good clip. http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/heavy-rain-flooding-next-week/25248608
This should make a mess out of things, it also should get the Brook moving pretty good. I'll get the before picture this afternoon.
