cherrydrop.jpg Came home yesterday and as I got out of the truck I heard the Siren Call of chainsaws a short distance down the hill. Got right back in and drove a block down the street where a gyppo tree service was loading Cherry logs and chunks into a trailer. They had taken down a Western (pie) Cherry tree now loaded in the trailer and said they would drop it off for free at my house. It was in tree service lengths but I naturally said YES! I love Cherry firewood. They also had a medium size Cottonwood and tried very hard to get me to take it also but I was not wanting that! Long and the short, I got a Cherry tree dropped from heaven right in my cubbyhole wood yard for free. :DThey still managed to slip in one 10" X 8ft Cottonwood log :picard:but I will use it in the fire pit. Guess I can't complain about one sneaky piece of Cottonwood!

Free delivery of cherry?? I’d surely dispose of the cottonwood no charge. :D

Cherry smoke is so pleasant, wish I could get more than I do. Nice score Russ!

Good stuff there. Even gooder you have it delivered. How often do you score cherry?

Im always tuned in to where the chain saw noise is coming from should I hear it from the house.

If you look close, there is a valentine in that cherry you could cut out and give to your wife.

I am giving this thread title the 2025 Multisyllabic blue ribbon. A sweet smelling score too.

Chainsaw noise is pretty much background noise in my neck of the woods. And chances are very high that the wood is already spoken for, by someone I know, so going to check it out is pretty much volunteering to help! :hair:
Glad it worked out for you though!

Hey Brad, Cherry is more of an incidental score around here but more often than one might think. I am always listening for a chainsaw around here. It almost always means that a tree is coming down and if you hear a big chipper grinding the branches, you can maybe sneak in early before the trunk is even down, and ask about the wood itself. If you just happen on logs or rounds in someones yard then, like brenndatomu says it is usually spoken for!

Cherry garners (at least) a $50 per cord premium around here.
West coats cottonwood has some bigass flowers.
