Anyone have a rough cost on what people are charging to haul semi loads of hay, 5x6’ round bales? Roughly 300 miles 45-50k pounds. Drought last year depleted all hay on hand and continued drought this year has hay production at 50-70% of normal. Guys that usually custom bale and sell hundreds of bales are being forced to buy enough for they own use. Hay that is available is twice what it usually cost and not very good quality.
6 years ago I’d have charged you $1350 for such a load from Detroit lakes Minnesota to Bismarck ND. some of it will depend if permits are needed or is there a state disaster proclamation. today, it would likely be $1500-1600 for me to haul such loads.
