I am looking for a smaller stove to fit in an existing fireplace in my crib. The room is a little more formal and the Jotul and Stanley stoves would fit aesthetically, I just haven't found a place that I can order from. I am not brand focused and would look at an 'off' brand if it was a classic style.

I think the size is a bit of an issue because the fireplace gets smaller the farther back.

    30.5 tall
23 wide (at the smallest point in the back)
    27 deep.

Does anyone have any recommendations for stove vendors and/or smaller stoves that I should look into?

2020 restrictions have reduced the models available from Jotul if you are buying new.

I had the Jotul f-100, then an F3 and an f-400 in a fireplace. We really enjoyed them. If the stove sticks out of the firebox, check side clearances if the columns are wood. Nice fireplace.

The columns are wood and I didn't think of that! Good point.

Selling this little guy for my in-laws today
When researching asking price I learned that it’s a legacy model with Jotul, the 602. Now available with EPA standard compliance.

    it’s a handsome little stove.

I second all of these recommendations. We've been using an enameled Castine for the past two years, and I really like it. Nothing that will fit in that fireplace will be an overnight burner, but I suspect you know that already.

The last I heard from Jotul, they were planning to bring back some of the smaller models once they got them 2020 certified. I have no idea what the timeline is.

I looked up the F3 and that would fit perfectly. Thank you for the suggestion. It might take a while, but I think we may have found a winner.

If you do get one, I have a short leg kit I'm selling that fits the F3. It is painted blue/black enamel, but could get painted stove black. I believe they are 3" inches shorter than the regular legs. Made all the difference getting a little more space. Works with an ash pan too.

The F3 is an easy stove to run. I really miss it. Good choice.

Good to know. I may follow up but don't hold your breath. The stove in the other part of the house took about 2 years to finally get installed. Hopefully it will go a little faster this time around.

I really like the blue/black but the supervisor seems to prefer the regular black. The enamel paints are pretty cool though.

Does anyone have a good jotul e-retailer they would recommend? I haven't been able to find someone via the normal channels.

I could be wrong but I believe you need to purchase a jotul through a dealer.

The F3 is no longer in production, and no authorized dealer can sell one even if they happen to have old stock because they're not compliant with the EPA's 2020 standards.

The most likely places to find one are Craig's List, Facebook Marketplace, or perhaps eBay.

Hmm. I am all for efficient stoves but that sure does make it difficult to purchase a stove.

You might keep an eye out for a "garage dealer," i.e. someone dealing wood stoves out of their garage who isn't authorized. Lots of the pre-2020 stock got dumped this spring, and these guys will be reselling it as "used," even though it's wrapped on a pallet. If you can find one of these guys, he might be able to hunt down what you want through his network even if he doesn't have it.

Morso also makes small stoves, not sure about online sales.
