    Seed pod/flower Bloom. Can't say that I ever seen one of these before.
    I asked my FIL and my older woodsman friend and they never seen one either. I know someone on here will know.

    I've seen that before, but i cannot tell you exactly what it is. I believe it's some kind of growth/fungus/bug something-or-other, not 'part' of the red oak it is growing on....
    How do you like that very scientific and informative explanation?? Haha

    We've found them on oak trees; fortunately not often. I don't remember what they are called but do know they hold some kind of bug eggs. I remember cutting one open but it has been years ago.
