When you guys/girls go scrounging do any of you bring along a two wheel dolly to wheel big rounds onto the trailer? If not, do you use another tool for the same purpose. Seems this may be quicker than noodling.

The nursery/tree/log dollies with the half round base look pretty handy, but the nice ones are $400-$550. There are less expensive options like this.

600 lb. Capacity Extra Wide Hand Truck

Seems the bigger the tires, the better it would work in the woods.

I have a Notch Log Dolly , just a giant hand truck. I got a killer deal on it and couldn't pass it up ; right place at the right time on this one otherwise I wouldn't have one. I looked at the price and when I saw what they were going for and what I was able to get it for I couldn't pass on it. Deals like this seem to never work out for me.
It is HEAVY !! and BIG !! , weighs in at right around 100 lbs so it's a monster.

Actually I haven't used it yet but it might get a workout this weekend with buZZsawBRAD. I will let you know how it works out.

I saw those when I was looking online. The lime green half round base ones. Look very nice, but they were in the $500 range. If you dont mind me asking, how much did you have to pay for yours?

Yes that's the one ; when this came about I had no idea until I was offered one and did some research on how much they are actually selling them for , the cheapest I saw them selling for was $450 and free shipping. My cost out of pocket was a lot less than that but I also did some favors for the one who got it for me . Out of pocket cost less than half of what they are going for and a few hours of my help with a few things was a win /win for me.

This one looks nice too. I like how he uses it to get the big round onto the splitter.

I just looked at the Log Mule website to get a price. Looks like the cart is discontinued.

Hand truck from Harbor Freight. I use that stupid thing all the time around the house for whatever. On an unknown scrounge, it comes with me until I see what I'm dealing with.

My hand truck is a huge help! Just a cheapie, and we have to keep replacing the wheels when they get a flat. But, it's not too heavy to throw in the car. IMG_20190815_40902.jpg

If I am without my dolly, I often regret it.

For everyone else who didn't immediately think "two wheels".

The Top Notch tree cart looks cool. It can be used as a dolly or a horizontal cart.

They are proud of that one too. Close to the 600 dollar range.

If you compare it to the Stein cart though, its not "bad". Cheaper and more functional.

For a professional arborist its worth getting. For one of us, not so much. I'm thinking I'm going to perform a Frankenstein type experiment and turn some parts I have laying around into something useful. Thread to follow if I do.

I've used Molly's hand truck several times now, and I really need to get myself one. Need to find one with large solid tires though. As she said, pneumatic really arent the best for the woods.

Harbor freight hand truck...Need to make some mods to it though.... 20200215_171435.jpg Terrible picture, but you get the idea. Maybe duel tires, a bigger platform, and some eyes to hook ratchet straps to. Oh, yeah, and two longer handles so I can pull it like a horse cart behind me. Gotta fire up the welder...

And some carts will allow you to put a couple of boards on the bottom so they stick out in front which allows you to better hold a log onto the cart.

Sometimes, I wish I had outriggers as the unforeseen bump in the path tips my hand truck and sends the load spilling to the ground. That’s one thing that can be frustrating.
