Owee...I guess you are called scewloose...might wanna tighten it up just a bit though... Did make a pile-o-firewood though...
I swear my shins are wood magnets. When splitting, the splits shoot right for my ankles. The bruises were horribly ugly. A few years ago I broke down and bought a pair of inexpensive soccer shin guards. They work great.
Quite a screwball making some screwy looking splits. Always screwing around making firewood Only you Screwloose All kidding aside, some nice looking splits. Bet it makes short work of oak. You need to post more pics of your operation. Those are some real nice looking stacks. Ouch for the shin. I feel your pain. My shins are always nicked up from being hit with splits.
That thing looks brand new! You just make that SL? Should be nice and quiet...at least until the cussing starts after being hit by a split...
Built it around 10 years ago and it's never been inside just covered. The 3 1/2" dia. shaft and cone are stainless with the rest blasted and bed linered including the flat free wheels. Yeah it's pretty quiet, nice to hear the sounds of the wood being split. 7 1/2 horsepower 305 rpm with a 1/2" pitch on the screw. Actually it's why i go by Screwloose.
My dad had one built on a low stand with 2 rollers, used rear tire of truck to power it. Still have it, bearings went out on one roller. Somebody could convert it to 3 PT hitch and PTO power easy.
Screwloose, that thing is a bit scary for me. I remember when they first came onto the market. I started getting excited about it with all I had read about it. However, over time I started reading about the dark side of them so never got one. I'll stick to hydraulics for sure. lol
Not any on mine but plenty of vids of them on YouTube. Atom splitter is where I bought the screw I just made it electric and they have some YouTube videos also.
