Does anyone have experience with these, positive or negative. From what I can tell, they are probably no longer on the market.

The resolution on my upload source was pretty high; not sure why the upload result is so....uh, horrible.

Looks like it might have potential if mounted on a gear-reduction horizontal shaft engine.

Pretty sure the one dad used had a set of rollers that you drove the car up on.

They actually work pretty well, especially on wood that typically splits easily. They are super fast, no lag or return times and always ready for the next piece. When we split tough ones like Elm or Oak crotches it would start to smoke a little then pop and 'strip'out the 'threads'and then catch and start in again. It wasn't the safest and was hard to design a good stop for the chunk to sit against while splitting. Dad decided years ago to quit using it.

Hello folks. We built one a few years ago, it is a table top version. 7 1/2 HP single phase motor 5:1 reducer 4" dia. Screw with 1/2" pitch. Anything with a " non twisted" grain will split fine otherwise it will just make yard art so those go to the hydraulic. Only minor injuries are when a too small piece rotates and smacks your hand like a nun with a yardstick.

Now the embarrassing part........I haven't a clue how to. Honestly, I have never been on a forum before. My daughter actually signed me up because I have been reading since the forum was approaching 200 members. Only made my first post the other day and I have to admit that I was nervous. I tried the "contact us" route for help week's ago and that didn't work out but I fully understand that whoever answers this is probably inundated with emails. Only thing I know how to do is attach a picture to a text message. I am the VCR flashing 12:00 guy.

Welcome (officially) to the Hoard, Screwloose :handshake:

1st things 1st... You can only put a video (of your own) up by way of Youtube (your daughter can set that up) or some such site...
If you click on the "filmstrip" looking Icon above, you'll see what the forum will allow. Well heck, let me show ya-

    upload_2017-2-27_13-11-13.png

    upload_2017-2-27_13-10-26.png

But the key is having a Youtube account set up, you then upload your video to them, set it to "public" and then you can get the "link" and "embed" it here with the above button... It takes a little finaggling to figure out, but once you do it it's like riding a bike, backwards, with no handle bars, a loose seat, a flat tyre......  Just kidding!

    We're glad you're here Screwloose!
