Scotch Pine, Scots Pine I was cleaning out a certain part of our driveway where I park the truck when I notice a good part of this tree was broken off by the heavy snow, I'll be burning the branches tomorrow.
How many needles per clump? If memory serves me scots and red both have two but scots are much shorter.
Yes, scotch pines have 2 needles per cluster. Now, if that's a scotch pine, that's the straightest one I've ever seen that tall. They are usually multi tipped twisted beasts over 15 feet of so.
The reddish barks looks like Scots Pine. There are a bunch of nice, straight Scots Pine around my house, so don't take the form of the tree as an indication that is isn't Scots. Count the needles to be sure.
I burned 9 loads of branches today which opened up that area. I should be splitting all the rounds tomorrow depending on the weather.
It was nice having the tractor to drag the log up and out of the woods. The pin for the d shackle fit through the hole in area one but wasn't long enough (didn't buy it for that certain area} but we made do. I finally brought the sand that was drying in the basement to the garage and then brought three more down to the basement to dry. I split all the wood except some of the smaller branches which went to the reducer (outside fireplace) I'm not sure what we'll do with this wood. Even though I didn't take more pictures, that area is clean except for the splits. The plow is off the truck and the truck is finally parked where I usually have it. We decided to put in two more loads of wood before the rains hit, we're still burning what we had up for shoulder season wood.
When the pin is not long enough, use a bolt. If it is just for a pull or two you can get by with a bolt or pin that is smaller around but be warned that if you do it a lot, it will wear that hole into an oval. This is what is happening to the drawbar on our Grizzly but I knew it would happen. Nothing serious here though. Can always put a weld in if it gets too big as it is just a drawbar.
I moved this back to a spot that will be my dump spot for any shoulder season wood for the fall of 2018. I would've stacked it but we still have shoulder season wood stacked in that area that we're burning this year, we have just under three face cord left.
I wish that third function kit for the plow would get resolved, our plows been in but Mahindra won't even call the dealer back up with a answer or I'd be running the tractor even more. Our tractor model number never had a third function kit made for it so it's a new item but it seems to be taking a long time.
I'm thinking Red pine, needles look too long for Scots. Needles on Scots should be 1.5"-3.5" long, while Red are 4"-7".
Yes, that's what I think it is too. The bark is too red as well, and not mostly grey like scotch pine.
