Maul, sledge, ax, hatchet, log jack, 36" crowbar, 36" bolt cutters in one lot for $30. My GF bid on the lot for me and when she went in the back to pick it up the lot was gone. Thieves!

Man that sucks! I've been going to auctions with my dad since I was a kid and that's happened to him quite a few times. Honesty is hard to find these days unfortunately.

That happened to me once at a State auction. I had bought an outboard motor. Someone else walked off with it. I didn't loose my money.

Do they have big processing machinery at the auctions too?

That has to hurt. Seems like thieves are all over the place.

As for how that can happen, around here, people bid and buy and most things stay put until after the sale ends or close to it. In the meantime there is nobody to watch the stuff so you take your chances. This is why when I buy, I take right then or have someone stand watch.

Update, no love on the auctioneer finding the lot. They called the buyers of the lots closest to ours. In case they got confused and picked up our lot by accident. Got credit for future purchase from the auctioneer.
