I don’t know if there is a right answer or wrong answer, it’s 3 of my favorite things! Took down a standing dead oak in the heat (why didn’t I do that a few months back?!), and got it cut up and taken up to the wood shed to get split and stacked. It was dead for 2 years, and the top 20 feet or so were on their way to drying, but the bottom 20-25 feet of trunk were heavy like good oak should be! Good grief, there are not many things as heavy as fresh cut oak...
Nice tractor, don't even have ac in our house let alone my tractor! I have a sketchy dead oak I have been planning on posting for info on how to take down. But this heat and me don't mix well. Good job and stay hydrated.
I looked at at tractors FOREVER...decided that I wanted the Deere, but I couldn’t bring myself to pay for a new one. So I kept just doing everything manually, and one Saturday I was worn out and my back was killing me. I deliberately waited until 1:00 to go to the Deere dealership- because they close at noon on Saturday. I just wanted to go and wish some more...and as I drove in there was this tractor sitting amongst the used equipment. It looked brand new, had the knobs on the tires and didn’t have a scratch, save for the underside of the bucket. Theeennn, I heard a voice: “Need some help?” I almost ran away, because I didn’t want to buy something. But I really did! I said, “aren’t you closed?” And he said he had closed but had paperwork to do so he had stuck around. The story on the tractor was that it only had 80 hours on it and the guy traded in for a bigger one. They put a 10-year, 1,000 hour power train warranty on it like it was new, and was $15,000 less than sticker. So, she followed me home! The best part was the wife said, nice job. You needed one.
Nice looking tractor, chain saw and oak! Ive posted in multiple forums with more or less the same thing.
You certainly are right about the weight of oak! Glad you got it. Great story about the tractor and they indeed can make our lives a lot easier. I wanted one for years but just kept putting it off, mainly because of the dollars. Then I thought back and it was the same story for our log splitter but boy was I ever happy once I started using that splitter. Then the same thing happened with the tractor. I wonder how I could have gotten along without it for so many years. After all I had used tractors a lot years ago on the farm and then even logging. But now I am really happy to have the tractor. Here is another way we use it and it works great!
