The Powerbox from Husqvarna seems superior to the Woodsman case by Stihl from what I can see. It seems like it has more storage space for extra stuff. The woodsman case for a 192 works great. It's tight on the larger saws.

There isn't a full length scabbard for bars longer than 20" that my dealer carries at least. That's an oversight.

I've got a generic version of the ppowerbox, use it for my 034AV Super. The 25" bar uses all of the scabbard. This it was from Northern tools, got it off eBay.

They also don't give a free Woodsman case most of the time. If you spend a decent amount on a new saw, that should be thrown in.

The Stihl case is made kind of cheap. Reminds me of the case I had for a KMart McCulloch saw.

I had mine outside for a while and its almost white. Also the hinge is just thin plastic so after a while of use it tears apart.

I'm not sure how that compares to the Husqy case?

I just looked up the woodsman, looks like I have an older version of as well. I like it, the scabbard is built in and makes it easy to put the MS250 in. It doesn't accommodate my 034 since I upgraded the bar. I like the Husqy style case better, though, since I can fit more stuff in the case.

And it's $50 too. That's not that cheap. Mine live indoors so I don't think it will be weather worn, but I don't love it. Needs a bigger scabbard too

I don't use a case anymore. Just use a full length scabbard.

No need for a case in my opinion. Saw goes in truck or trailer.

Plus, if I needed one for every saw?....... :(

Stihl has introduced new Scabbards. They are full length (no add on pieces). I like them.. A lot.

I have 3 cases and I paid for 2 of them. I need to look into the full length scabbard. A razor sharp chain can do some damage.

I have a shorty scabbard that covers up 2/3 rd of the bar...looks silly but does offer some protection.

I have a case for my current saw...never had one before this one. It's the Stihl model. I like it. My shop is primarily a woodworking shop so it keeps the dust off of it, and it keep it from bouncing around in the trailer.

Also the Stihl unit isn't very weatherproof. I left my 460 in the case out all winter. Apparently the saw sat in water for a while. I'm not sure how come, never notified it getting wet before.

Yeah yeah... I'm sure the couple on here that polish their saws and tuck them into bed at night are chitting bricks but the saw works fine still.

I'd be scared to leave a saw out for a number of reasons but theft would be the first.

I have the Stihl version of the power box, (somewhat rare and now discontinued) and a Woodsman case. Yes, you can stuff more junk in the powerbox style case, but I can toss 2-3 chains and files, scrench, screwdriver in the Woodsman case too. Honestly, I don't like having all that in there with the saw, I'd rather all the accessories that do not have a dedicated spot in the case (oil, gas, chains, wedges, etc.) ride in my milk crate that I keep for saw stuff. And yeah, if I had a case for every saw, I would have to build an addition to my garage to store 'em all. I do like just tossing the saw/case in the back of the truck and not worrying about it getting all beat up tho.

I just have chains, mix oil and a scrench in my big case. A few wedges now too. You put too much in and its tough to reload each time. I don't think a case would be needed for every saw, just as long as you have enough cases to pack up the saws you are taking for the job. If you had to haul all of Dex's saws to each job, you would need an extra truck.

At $50 a pop per case and over 350 saws, I will not be buying any soon. Many of my saws (some running Stihls included) cost less than $50.

Once a year, Stihl would have a big promo on those cases and blow them out to dealers for like $5 a pop. Catch was you had to buy a ton of them. Like a few dozen or more. I'm not sure they do that anymore but that was how you got a "free" case with a saw purchase.

I am done with 3 running saws for the 4-5 cord I'd do in a year. I have other toys I'd like too! ;)

And there's those pesky things that I have to buy like food and housing. :emb:
