Saturday Woodlot

    Finally got a break in the weather here. No rain or snow so had a chance to visit the woodlot.

    I’ve been packing the Shindaiwa 488 around in the back of the pickup for a while. Decided to run it a bit to dry it out, but a smaller saw would have worked just as well.

    I brought the snag down with the portable winch. The cut at the base doesn’t look good but I just wanted to get through completely without getting the saw pinched. It wasn’t going anywhere the way it was hung up so it worked out fine.

    Somehow I had shut off the fuel valve on the winch and it shut off right as the tree was falling. Totally unplanned.

    Interesting that the winch cut off right when it did. It came down safely though, after from the fir tree.
