Delivered my 15th face cord today for the month. Was a face cord of 20 month seasoned beech. Very dry and awesome firewood. The customer purchased a face cord of white oak from me about two years ago. After purchasing some un-burnable wet red oak on the cheap, they contacted me yesterday for another purchase. I love that customers realize the cheap stuff is cheap for a reason. All my recent beech customers have contacted me saying it is a great burning firewood.

Some primo firewood for sure. Nice to know your product is appreciated. My sales are lower due to the mild Winter. Lost a few customers too. Havent scored beech in a couple years myself.

How well does that synthetic roofing felt hold up for stack covers?

I have been using the roofing underlayment for almost two years now and it is outperforming the 5-6 mil tarps I had primarily used in the past. I like being able to just roll it and staple it in place on windy days. I last purchased it at Lowes for $80 something with tax. Comes in 125' rolls. Much cheaper than tarps. You can also find it in black. Nothing uglier than a blue tarp.

Being a roofer i have been using the stuff for a few years now and the thought had crossed my mind of using it for stack covers. Metal, plywood and black pool cover plastic are my main stack covers now.

I love the roofing underlayment on my narrower stacks. I see there is a black color of synthetic underlayment but I haven't used it yet to get any scrap.

The rolls are 4' wide, so I stack my pallets roughly 44" wide to provide a little overhang and have the middle of the rows a little higher so the rain runs off instead of pooling. Sheet metal roofing is the long-term A answer, but expensive, hard to lift 10-12' pieces on top of 6' high stacks and they blow off easily in heavy wind if not weighted down with tons of junk.

I only use them on my sauna wood pile as I stack them only two deep at 16 inch rounds. I never have to buy the underlayment or the house wrap because I just bring home the left over rolls from work. I actually keep a extra hammer tacker from my tool trailer by the wood piles.

X2. Most of my stacks are 36" so the 4' will be perfect. Thats for the inspiration EODDiver :salute:

28mph winds today and gusts to 45. Staples held everything in place. With the wind and 78 degree temps, most of my firewood seasoned in one day!!!!

Delivered a rick of hickory today to a repeat customer. Last time his three sons and a friend did all the unloading and stacking; I just kept feeding the tailgate with firewood. Sad that I delivered during a school day, but the Dad and his watchful dog helped me unload.

When i was stacking the tulip poplar splits from recent cuttings it seemed like some of those were dry enough already. What is to become of that poplar? Ive heard you mention that burners down there dont like it and know the difference.

I’ll use it for bundles and mixing with oak in my stoves.

Have been cutting up about a dozen trees on my property the last week lost from a big wind storm. Have about 3 cords of black cherry down. Big demand from smokers usually in the Spring to early Summer. GW and his axe against my 372xp wouldn’t have had a chance. D8F48228-072F-4000-9FCF-410105C76230.jpeg

Splitting these 20+“ rounds with my wedges was a breeze after noodling them a few inches. Thankful to have learned this technique from fellow hoarders! About a $375 Nashville load.
