I picked up this Sager 1941 Chemical axe today for $75. I’ve wanted a double bit axe for awhile and this is the first local one that I’ve seen and it seemed like a fair deal to me.

Anybody know anything about the history of these axes? Where they are made how old they are ect…

That is a really nice axe! I have my eye out for a Sager. Some will say that $75 is steep for a used axe, but that beauty will serve you well and cut as well or better than any new axe that costs 3x more. Check out yesteryears tools for good info on the old American and Canadian axe brands. Sager is a sought after brand. The handle looks to be tight and right on that one and there is room to work the head down on the shoulder a bit if it ever loosens up. Good find!
