I’m not sure when the 680 was produced. Probably some time in the 1970’s would be my guess.
I run pretty much all of my saws from time to time, but it seems when I go on a wood cutting binge I’ll stick with a couple of saws during the frenzy.
Not sure of the official count, but I think there are 50 or more saws in the collection now, so some of them don’t see much use.

Shindaiwa stopped selling in the US sometime about 2000 when the pollution and other regulations changed. Now I believe that Echo owns the name and is selling saws under the Shidy name again.

They made some great power equipment in their day. We ran the pizz outta the Shinny line trimmers & they'd go 5 years on commercial lawn rigs. Only ever ran a couple saws, but the were dead reliable too. Shame they gave up in the U.S.

I had a Shindawa hand held string trimer years ago. Big handlebars and all. Thing was a brute!

50 saws! Impressive. Great way to intimidate the mail man :)

I posted a pic of this C-35 brush cutter awhile back.
Purchased in 1984 and my first Shindaiwa equipment.
I ran it hard and often when my parents and I had 50 acres of overgrown Oregon woodlot.
Only issues ever were a fuel line replacement and a new electrical unit which turned out to be the kill switch wire shorted on the muffler cover and wasn’t needed after all.
Pulled it out the other day and after fueling and priming, it started on one pull. [IMG]

A few of them. Many duplicates in the shop.
