Has anyone ever used one or know anything about them? I am down here in northeast Texas and mostly white oak, red oak, black jack oak, and post oak. I am just looking for a new splitter.
I watched a couple of their videos. The Lifan engine is LOUD. Some of their design seemed cheesey. Like the log lift and the log catcher tray. It seemed to have a fast cycle time. And a very large hydraulic cylinder
Eh, I've seen it in pictures. I'm not impressed for the money. It looks cheaply built, and they spam Craigslist. There's better ones than that for less money.
Just from their own photos fabrication and welding looks sketchy... A lot of guys around here have their favorites, but a few names keep popping up again and again. Dirty Hand Tools, Huskee, and Airens seem to be the most popular. I would narrow down what you feel that you need for features and then try to find one that matches as many of those as possible.
I burn close to 8-10 cords a year between heating and cooking always trying to cut more for the next year. My splitter now does not tilt up and trying to understand how much tonnage I need to split what I have. My splitter now does an OK job just does not have enough power some times.
The only splitter I've used is the Iron & Oak 34 ton (RENTAL) horizontal/vertical model. It's made in the USA and does a great job. I think it's about $3200.
