20140524_135801.jpg 20140524_144247.jpg 20140524_155749.jpg Well, I'm sure most don't remember my memorial day weekend last year, posted elsewhere, but this year was almost as bad. We were climbing a loose shale pretty steep hill, one I have done a few times. While cresting the hill, there becomes a flat area that's about 3' long and then hill again another few feet. Well, a boulder must have become loose, because it was on the path, so a had to turn a bit. Bad idea. Gravity took over, absolutely nothing I could do but go with the grizzly. It rolled only 1.5 times, but landed on my leg, but the seat rolled over my chest area, so I guess I was spared serious injury. My shin instantly blew up the size of a plum. I was tore up a lot too, but my leg was killing me. My wife, her friend came running, and same with my buddy that was ahead of me in a different section. My wife said she could see the bone in my leg (not true, was a deep gash that failed to bleed at that moment.) Well anyway, sat for a moment, had a smoke, then felt like I was going to pass out, didn't. We rode to the trailhead, loaded up and the wife drive us home, when alittle after that I went to the ER. No break, but wounds needed scrubbing (grit) xrays taken (no break). So here I lay in the couch the next couple days. One pic is elbow sliced by sharp shale, my leg, when it was super swollen and road rash on my back)

Glad you're okay W.S, make sure the boss takes care of you until you're 100 percent, that means giving you a shower every day! :loco:

How bad is the Griz from the tumble?

Hmm, I got a semi sponge bath at the hospital. The only thing that worries me is the clot the Dr talked about. I can't imagine getting in an accident on a motorcycle on a road. I'm hurting.

Did they give you anything for the clotting? When I had some shoulder surgery in 2002, they were worried about the clotting too.

Good thing you are in good shape from cutting wood, keeps you toughened up.

Some ibuprofen in the morning , you'll be good to go :)

    You'll heal, but :
    How's the ATV?

    :) :)

The grizz is actually ok!:) the 1 brake lever bent, and the fender broke..... same one my son split. What made things better was the frame i built and installed in my rear cargo bag. Too bad i didnt have the gopro running..... it would have been sick! Quads are still in truck. I will inspect closer when i feel up to unloading.

They didn' t give me anything for the clot, unless vicadin is for that.

Go real slow WS... prolly gonna be automatic. Glad the Griz didn't pinch you any more than it did. 500 lbs coming down on you can't be good. These things happen and it's always an eye opener. I'm sure you'll be back at it before you know it.

BIL tried to load a 4x4 up way too steep ramps into his truck... it rolled right over backwards and landed damm near full force (handlebar area) on his head. He had a major fluid buildup and it wasn't good for a while. The roll killed his Jack Russell who rode up in front of him all the time. It's likely the JR's body helped to keep the machine from pushing even harder on his head. Just as soon as he was back home, he was back on his machine... ;)

Wow Stin, thats crazy. I actually have probably the longest ramps available on the market. When I was finishing up at the ER, the nurse told me that they just took a girl up for xrays. Atv handlebar to the chest. She said swelling was beyond ice.

Glad you are not busted up too bad. Vicodin is the Tylenol laced opiate pain killer. No alcohol for you tonight.

I can't imagine having someone gently let the full weight of a machine down on my chest, let alone that weight coming at me with some speed. I went to the BIL's camp to secure the ATV afterward. The truck was still there with the ramps on it. He was way up on a knoll already, so the tailgate was a mile up. Then, the ramps were down that knoll some too. It was really bad and I don't even think he'd had have gotten up and over the tailgate/ramp transition... it was almost 90 degrees. Not a lot of talkin about it later, but I think too many beers hadn't helped much. Glad he's OK. Glad you're OK.

When I tore muscles/ligaments away from my pelvis this last Jan (yup, on the ice) my feet swelled up almost double their normal sasquatch size. Don't know what your doc has you doing for swelling... I had lots of ice and had to keep my feet raised... it was all good shortly tho... hang in man. Ibu might become your best friend. It's definately mine... ;)

Yes, been rotating ice packs every hour or so. Keeping my leg slightly elevated on a pillow.
