I cleaned my father's yesterday and mine today. I like to clean mine just before I start burning to make sure everything looks good. In the stove I found 2 steel brackets that hold the fire brick bent (above the air tubes), so I'll get some from my local hearth shop.
did mine last week, I do it every year about this time frame along with a complete cleaning of insert. Have a few cracked fire bricks / other than that all good to go
I'll be sweeping mine this weekend. My son started to pile up some of this season's supply in front of the shed for me to stack this weekend as well.
Cleaned mine at the end of last season. Will still drop a rope down from the top to the clean out T to make sure nothing built a nest in it. Its blocked of with a towel from the T into the house so no worries there.
Cleaned stove and checked it last weekend, going to swab stove pipe this weekend. Should be good to go then.
Same here. I like to clean it all up before the heat of summer sets in and it's one less thing to do this time of year. I keep telling you guys, I'm anal
Had mine cleaned about a month ago. Went up today to measure how long of a liner I will need for it. Hoping to have it done and in by first week of october
Last year was my first season burning in an insert, I installed the 6" stainless liner with insulation. I just started looking for the right brush and rods to clean it with.. Do I need to disconnect the liner from the insert before I sweep it?
A few weeks out for me. I'll do it at the first cool snap. I need a northwest wind to push the soot away from me when I am on the roof.
Mine was cleaned in May when my Fireview was installed. My sweep did it; he admitted he didn't even like getting up that high (cap is 35 feet from the ground).
Wanted to do mine today, but did not get to it. Think I'll try to get it done tomorrow. Got a little bit to add to the baffle and a few cracked bricks and I think one missing.
Mine is spotless. It will be getting a SS liner for some sort of epa efficient wood burning insert this season. I'm doing my research now.
I have a insert with 6" liner as well, I simply remove all the firebricks and unbolt the baffles / secondary tubes and remove them. Close the door tight and get on the roof and run a 6" poly brush up and down the liner. Let dust settle / open door and scoop out the mess / vacuum out fine stuff with ash vac if you have one
